A catalog of artifacts across various special collections has been developed as a resource for professors and students to assist in research and presentations or to serve as learning aides.

Alfred Backus Collection of Methodist Materials  (PDF)

 

A collection of materials donated by alumnus, Alfred Backus (class of 1902). Included are materials relating to the Wesleys, the history of the Methodist Church, and Backus' career as a Methodist preacher. (see also Methodist History Collection)

 

Ancient Coin Collection (PDF)

 

A collection of coins from the Roman and Byzantine Empires that span the first through sixth centuries AD. Items in this collection can be seen in the Artifact Catalog.

 

Association of Christians in Student Development Archives (PDF)

 

This collection contains various records that document the ACSD history from its early beginnings to present day.

 

Christian College Consortium Archives

 

Donated in December 2007, the CCC Archives contain various records that document its history from its inception in the early 1970's to present day. The collection is currently being processed.

 

Donald Schramm Collection of Rare Coins and Bills

 

A collection of various coins and bills from the United States and abroad. Selections of the collection can be seen in the Artifact Catalog.

 

Elwood Hillis Collection

 

A collection of congressional records donated by former congressman, Elwood Hillis, who was the Representative for the Indiana 5th District from Jan 3, 1971 - Jan 3, 1986.  Although the collection is currently being processed, researchers are welcome to use the collection.

 

Historical Newspapers Collection (PDF)

 

An eclectic collection of newspapers relating to significant events in United States' history including the assassinations of both Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy, the resignation of Richard Nixon, and the Bicentennial of the United States.

 

Hoosier Railroad Club Collection (PDF)

 

This collection details the history of the railroads through a plethora of different magazines, manuals, pictures, photographs, and memorabilia.

 

James DeWeerd Bible and Rare Documents Collection

 

A collection of Bibles spanning the years since the invention of the printing press, and several rare documents spanning from 2500B.C. to the early 1900's. Selections of this collection can be seen in the Artifact Catalog.

 

John Wengatz Collections (African and Oriental)

 

Two collections of artifacts from Angola, Africa, and China donated by John (class of 1909) and Helen Wengatz, missionaries to Africa and China.  Also includes photos and personal effects.

 

Mabel Michael Collection

 

A collection of artifacts from Mozambique, Africa, donated by missionary, Mabel P. Michael. Ms. Michael was a friend of the Wengatz’s and nursed Susan Talbott Wengatz during her fatal struggle with rabies.

 

Methodist History Collection (PDF)

 

A collection of various materials related to the history of the Methodist Church. This collection consists of Doctrine and Disciplines, Journals of the General Conference, Minutes of the North Indiana Annual Conference, and other miscellaneous items. (see also the Alfred Backus Collection)

 

Rice Cow Creamer Collection

 

A collection of cow creamers from around the world, donated by Raymond and Garnet Rice (both class of 1929).
