From www.taylor.edu - Taylor University, integrating faith and learning

Zondervan Library has upgraded our Interlibrary Loan service with the use of OCLC's ILLiad.

What this means for You, the User:

  • Online account that keeps track of your requests.
Through your online account, you can:
  • View the status of your requests, as well as all requests you have ever made within the new system.
  • Access electronically-delivered articles and download them to your computer.
  • Cancel an order, prior to its shipment, if you realize you don't need it.

The system offers seamless integration with existing Library databases and systems, allowing the most efficient submission and processing for your information requests.

Where do you request Books?

  • WorldCat - just like before ILLiad, the process is the same. Click the ILL button to request any book or DVD through WorldCat that you need for your courses.

How can I request Articles?

  • Through Library databases - also similar to the functionality prior to ILLiad implementation. You can choose the option to request an item through ILLiad. Most databases should fill out the ILL form for you with details of the citation from the database. Please verify the information to ensure accuracy (specifically, page numbers), prior to submission.
  • Manually filling out a form - if you find a citation through Google Scholar or in a book or article you are using, you can login to ILLiad and choose the type of document it is (book, article) and fill out the form yourself!

Limitations

We have limitations set for the number of requests one user can have within the system. These rules have always been in place to ensure staff have time to serve all students, faculty and staff. Through ILLiad the limitations are now easily enforced.

  • Students: 10 active requests at a time
  • Faculty: 15 active requests at a time
Through the ILLiad system, you will be able to view all of your requests online. Managing your ILL requests will become a much smoother process!

Mutual Benefit

While we know that ILLiad will increase user satisfaction with the ILL process, we also know that it is providing a more efficient workflow and saving time and resources for our staff.

We hope that you will share your feedback on the new system: what you like, what we could improve, how it is helping your research organization and process.

Please contact Lana Wilson, Reference Librarian, or Jo Ann Cosgrove, Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, with questions, issues, and musings about ILLiad.
