For many people, the idea of graphic novels brings comic books to mind, perhaps most especially superhero comics such as those produced by DC and Marvel. In reality, serialized stories such as these represent only a portion of the scope of graphic literature. Graphic novels come in a variety of genres, just like any other book, and are written for a range of audiences. From stories about going to camp for the first time to retellings of classic works to a series about a girl from space going to school on Earth, the subjects of graphic novels are far-reaching.
