Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a field of science concerned with creating machines that can reason, act, and learn, mimicking human learning and intelligence. It involves data at a scale that would be impossible for human analysis.

Generative AI is designed to generate new content such as text, images, video, etc. based on user prompts. While tradition AI is focused on analysis and predictive qualities, generative AI is focused on creating original content.

Large Language Modals (LLMs) are a type of generative AI focused on language-based tasks. These models are trained using massive datasets to allow them to understand and generate human language and perform tasks such as summarizing, translating, answering questions, generate code, etc.

AI has many benefits but also comes with ethical concerns and considerations especially in academia. Firstly, before using AI in any course, in any way, you should always consult your professor and syllabus for expectations of that course. Secondly, it is also important to understand Taylor University's academic honesty and integrity policies which can be found here (on page 66).

Within the library and information literacy considerations, there are a number of other items to consider. Use the tabs on this guide to explore AI and information literacy.
